Prepared for Dutch John Resort
Flaming Gorge Dam water flow and release update with this week’s temps, hatch windows, and section-by-section tactics for the Green River.
Flows hold steady between 1,500 and 1,700 CFS with cold, clear tailwater and a full late-summer hatch menu. PMDs dominate mornings and evenings, terrestrials own the midday heat, and caddis close out the day in the shade.
Below is the current dam release status, water temperature and clarity, hatch timing, our recommended fly box, and a full tactical breakdown of Sections A, B, and C. Floating remains the most productive way to cover water and reach active feeding lanes throughout the week.
Match size to window and you will find active fish throughout the day.
| Hatch | Size | Window / Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| PMDs | #16–20 | Strong mornings and evenings |
| Caddis | #18–20 | Excellent during evening shade |
| Midges | #20–22 | Active early and midday |
| Terrestrials | #12–16 | Dominant warm, windy afternoons |
| Yellow Sallies | #14–16 | Light activity |
| BWOs | #20–22 | During overcast conditions |
Our guides put you on the right seam at the right hour and handle the technical flows. See open dates and reserve your trip on the Green.
