Prepared for Dutch John Resort
Flaming Gorge Dam water flow and release update with this week’s temps, hatch windows, and section by section tactics for the Green River.
The Green River is running a double-peak release this week, roughly 1,800 CFS on average with cold, clear tailwater and a busy late summer hatch. Morning Tricos, midday terrestrials, and evening caddis are all in play for anglers who can read the seams.
Below is the current dam release status, water temperature and clarity, hatch timing, our recommended fly box, and a full tactical breakdown of Sections A, B, and C. With flows surging midday and precise presentations required, a guided drift boat is the most productive way to reach the active feeding zones.
Match the size to the window and you will stay on feeding fish all day.
| Hatch | Size | Window |
|---|---|---|
| Tricos | #24 | 9 to 11 AM |
| BWOs | #22–24 | 10 AM to 12 PM |
| PMDs | #18–20 | 11 AM to 2 PM |
| Caddis | #18–20 | 6 to 8 PM |
| Terrestrials | #12–16 | 12 to 5 PM, heavy |
| Midges | #20 | 7 to 10 AM |
Our guides put you on the right seam at the right hour and handle the technical double-peak flows. See open dates and reserve your trip on the Green.
